I am currently studying health studies at college, but I aspire to become an ODP professional. I believe the course offers a path to a long-lasting career that will allow me to make a make a difference in people’s life. I choose this career as I love being there for those who are most vulnerable. I have always had interest in the ODP as it includes everything that I enjoy doing. Additionally, your institution is renowned for producing highly qualified ODP professionals that continue to make a remarkable contribution to people’s life. I would like to join the list of those who have trained at the University and helped transform the society. I consider myself a caring and compassionate person with sound interpersonal skills and able to use initiatives (Health Careers, 2016). Therefore, I understand that the profession is demanding and challenging at times, but also fulfilling and rewarding. The main reason is that I want to make a difference in people’s lives through caring and supporting them when they are in the most critical position. I am someone who treats everybody with respect, dignity, and confidentiality. Besides, I am good at concentrating, practical skills, and learn quickly, which are the qualities of Operating Department Practitioners (The Association for Perioperative Practice, 2016). I have always desired to work in the healthcare sphere, but it is the fast paced side of client care that I find more inspirational and one that captures my interests and desires the most. Moreover, I enjoy working with people directly on an everyday basis. I have gained several skills for working and volunteering in different organizations. I recently volunteered for the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) which is a charity organization (Royal Voluntary Service, 2016). Besides, I have done extensive research work for them and taken care of the elderly people with great compassion. I have demonstrated and practiced the six C’s of the NHS. I now consider myself competent, an effective communicator, courageous, and a committed person (Star, 2012). Through that, I have gained experience in how to look after my future clients whom I will be dealing with at work on a daily basis. For instance, when communicating with a client, I understand the value of non-verbal cues and the need for effective two-way conversation. Likewise, I am currently working at Active Social Care Limited which is â€Å"a dynamic social care company that offers a diverse range of services to individuals and organizations† (Active Social Care, 2016). As a care worker, I have learned a variety of skills such as caring for the clients and being alert. I have also collaborated with the National Citizen Service (N CS) that offered an opportunity to gain valuable nursing skills such as working in a group, and serving as a team leader (National Citizen Service, 2016). I understand team norms and dynamics together with ways of making people with different interests and from diverse backgrounds work together to achieve a shared objective.
